FAQ's
What's the difference between a wall charger and a wallbox?
They're the same thing — "wallbox" is the common term for a wall-mounted EV charger. Both refer to a fixed Level 2 AC charger installed on a wall to charge your vehicle faster and more safely than a household socket.
Which power rating should I choose?
Base your choice on your electrical supply and your vehicle. A 7kW single-phase charger suits most homes and fully charges the majority of EVs overnight. 11kW and 22kW chargers require a three-phase supply and only charge faster if your vehicle's onboard charger supports that power. If you have a single-phase supply, 7kW is the practical limit.
Can EV wall chargers be installed outdoors?
Yes. Most of our wallboxes are rated IP54 and operate at temperatures from approximately -25°C to +40°C, making them suitable for outdoor installation as well as garages. A certified electrician should confirm the installation location and weather exposure during installation.
Do I need a professional to install a wallbox?
Yes. Wall chargers require installation by a certified electrician, who mounts the unit, connects it to your electrical supply and installs the appropriate protection. We do not provide installation services, and professional installation is usually required to maintain the manufacturer's warranty and qualify for any government grant, especially for three-phase models.
What smart features do these wallboxes offer?
Many include Wi-Fi or Bluetooth with app control — for example, the Wallbox "myWallbox" app — allowing you to schedule charging around off-peak tariffs, monitor energy use, and lock or unlock the charger. A dynamic power controller adjusts charging to your home's overall electrical load to help prevent overloads.
Do wall chargers come with a cable?
Both options are available. Tethered models include a fixed 5m or 7m cable for convenience, while socket models allow you to use your own charging cable and preferred length. Tethered models are simpler for a single vehicle, while socket models offer greater flexibility for different vehicles or cable lengths.
