Choose a cable that matches your vehicle and charging point. A 7kW (32A) single-phase cable is suitable for homes and vehicles limited to single-phase charging. Choose an 11kW (16A) or 22kW (32A) three-phase cable only if both your EV and the charging point support three-phase charging. Otherwise, the additional capacity will not be used. 

Choose the cable length based on the distance between the charging point and your vehicle's inlet. A 5m cable suits most home and public charging setups, while 7–10m cables provide extra reach when the charging point is further away or on the opposite side of the vehicle. A little extra length can be useful, but longer cables are heavier and more expensive. 

Straight cables are better suited to longer distances and lie flat on the ground. Coiled cables take up less space in the boot and keep less cable on the ground, but their effective reach is shorter. Choose a coiled cable for compact storage and short distances, or a straight cable for greater reach and flexibility. 

Charging speed is limited by the lowest-rated component: your vehicle's onboard charger, the charging station or the cable. As long as the cable matches or exceeds the maximum power supported by both the vehicle and the charging station, it will not reduce charging speed. A higher-rated cable will not increase charging speed if your vehicle supports a lower charging rate. 

A Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable is not compatible with a Type 1 vehicle. You will need a Type 1 to Type 2 cable or adapter, with a Type 1 connector for the vehicle and a Type 2 connector for the charging point. Check your vehicle's inlet before ordering.
